How to Get Started with Shapo: Import Reviews, Create a Widget, Collect Testimonials

Why use this guide?
If you’re new to Shapo, this guide will take you step-by-step through:

  • Importing reviews (from Google Reviews in this example)

  • Creating a testimonials widget

  • Setting up a form to collect new reviews/testimonials

How to Import Testimonials into Shapo

Follow these quick steps to import your Reviews into Shapo. Once imported, you can display them in widgets, forms, or your Wall of Love. We'll use Google reviews as an example:

  1. Log in to your Shapo dashboard and go to the Testimonials section.

  2. Click Import and select your source:


  3. Enter your business identifier - for example, Google Reviews - search for your Google business name:

  4. Choose your import settings (rating filters, text-only reviews, etc.):

  5. Review the fetched testimonials from the list and select which ones you want to import:

    Optional: Import up to 1,000 of the newest reviews that match your filters, add a tag, set an Auto-import for new reviews.

  6. Click Import to add them to your Shapo account.

Create a Testimonial Widget in Shapo

  1. In to your Shapo dashboard go to the Widgets section.

  2. Click New Widget.

  3. Name your widget and click Create:


  4. Select the widget layout you prefer (carousel, grid, single testimonial, etc.):


  5. In the "Design" section, you can tailor the look and feel of the widget. Each style (grid or carousel) comes with its own unique design settings. These settings may include: text colors, adjusting the background, displaying or hiding the rating.
    Adjust the design settings to match your website's branding and aesthetics.

  6. In the "Settings" section, you can control various parameters that enable you to fine-tune the widget's behavior and appearance. Common settings include: Filter review source, hiding or displaying Shapo branding, number of testimonials to show on the widget, and more...
    Customize the settings according to your specific requirements.

  7. Save the widget.

  8. Once your widget is saved, you can go to the Add to your website section to see the JS snippet. You can paste the provided code into your webpage's HTML at the desired location for the widget.

Create a Testimonial Collection Form in Shapo

  1. In to your Shapo dashboard and go to the Collection Forms section.

  2. Click New Form.

  3. Name your form and click Create:

  4. On the left-side panel, you'll see a section labeled Pages. You can use this section to navigate between the different pages of your form.

  5. Testimonial - this is where your customers will leave their testimonials. Customize the page title and welcome message to make it inviting.

  6. Personal Details - decide which information to collect from the customer. By default, full name and email are required. You can toggle on additional fields like website, phone number, etc.

  7. Thank You - the final step after a testimonial has been submitted. Customize it to display a thank you message and show appreciation to your customers.

  8. In the Design section, you can upload your logo, adjust colors, and customize the form’s appearance to match your brand.

  9. In the Language section you can change the labels and placeholders of your form to use any language you like.

  10. Under Automation you can set Shapo to send webhook requests to external tools whenever testimonials are submitted through this form.

  11. In General Settings, you can set the form name and manage branding options.

  12. Click View to see a preview of what your form looks like

  13. Save your form

  14. You can now share the form's link with your customers and start gathering valuable testimonials to showcase your business or products. You can also link the form to your widget to collect more testimonials.
